YIELD – A Step Toward Self-Sufficiency

Empowering the Differently-Abled through Home Farming
Yield is a compassionate initiative under the Mathunni Mathews Training Center, managed by Good Earth Trust, Kollakadavu. This program is designed to uplift and empower mentally and physically challenged individuals, helping them become self-reliant through sustainable, home-based vegetable farming.

Our aim is to help differently-abled children and adults grow their own vegetables at home, contribute meaningfully to their families, and even start small businesses. This initiative encourages confidence, dignity, and inclusion through practical and achievable goals.

How Yield Works
Participants in the Yield program are provided with:

Vegetable seeds

Fertilizers

Basic farming materials and tools

Free transportation to and from the center for children attending training sessions

This makes it easier for families to support their children in participating actively, without worrying about how to get them to the training center.

Training and Ongoing Support
Our trained instructors offer step-by-step guidance and farming tips via WhatsApp to families, helping them set up and maintain their home gardens.

Regular home visits are carried out by Mr. Rajan Kaippally, Director of Good Earth Training Center, to monitor progress and provide encouragement.

Annual Recognition and Awards
At the end of each year, participants who show outstanding dedication and results will be recognized as “Best Differently-Abled Farmers”, and awarded prizes and certificates of appreciation.

These recognitions inspire confidence and encourage more families to take part in this meaningful journey.

A Collective Effort
The success of Yield depends on the collaboration between:

Families of the differently-abled

Neighbors and community volunteers

The Agriculture Department

Social workers and instructors

And the ongoing support from Good Earth Trust

Together, we are building an ecosystem of support that values every individual and promotes sustainable livelihoods.
